Army Troops Foil Boko Haram Extortion Plot in Yobe State, Kill Insurgent
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, working with the 27 Task Force Brigade, foiled a Boko Haram/ISWAP extortion attempt in Yobe State. Acting on intelligence about terrorists moving in two Volkswagen Golf vehicles and motorcycles to collect illegal levies, they launched a fighting patrol on July 19 at the Paya Kafiya axis. During the operation, soldiers disabled one vehicle and neutralised its driver. Four other suspects fled wounded into nearby bushes. A follow-up clearance on July 20 along the Paya Kafiya–Garin Gada axis recovered the vehicle, weapons, ammunition, drugs and mechanical tools used to support terror logistics. The Army said the mission dealt a blow to Boko Haram/ISWAP’s revenue and movement networks. It reaffirmed its commitment to intelligence-led offensives until lasting peace and stability are restored in the North-East.
