I Welcome 30-Day Petrol Price Cut and Call for Affordable Electricity
I welcome the reported 30-day reduction in petrol prices at NNPC stations as a potential relief for public transport operators, commuters, households and businesses. Lower fuel costs could reduce transport expenses and ease the movement of food, goods and services. However, the impact will depend on transparent implementation and whether the benefit reaches Nigerians. I also believe the government should build on this step by improving electricity supply, expanding metering, reducing estimated billing, strengthening gas supply to power plants and upgrading transmission and distribution infrastructure. Fuel relief should be followed by practical action on affordable and reliable electricity.
