Kano Court Sentences Man to Death for Killing Housewife

A Kano High Court has sentenced Shuaibu Abdulkadir to death by hanging for culpable homicide after finding him guilty of killing 23-year-old housewife Rumasa’u Shuaibu. Justice Farida Rabiu-Danbappa held that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt. The court gave the convict 90 days to appeal the judgment. The prosecution said the offence happened on April 6, 2025, in Farawa Quarters, Kano. It presented three witnesses and seven exhibits, including a confessional statement, photographs and the deceased’s mobile phone. The defence asked the court for leniency, saying the convict was a first-time offender who had shown remorse.
