Police Rescue Two Colombian Women Allegedly Held Hostage in Lagos
The Nigeria Police Force says it has rescued two Colombian women who were allegedly lured to Nigeria through fraud and held against their will in Lagos. Police identified the victims as Maria Camila Rodas Ortiz and Yuliet Fernanda Rios Mesa. Their travel documents were allegedly seized by Chinese nationals who fled before officers arrived. The rescue followed intelligence from INTERPOL in Bogotá on August 26, 2026. The women are receiving support while authorities work with the Colombian Embassy to arrange accommodation and emergency travel documents for their return home. Police say efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest the suspected members of the cross-border criminal syndicate.
