Nigerian Diaspora Group Urges Mexico to Reject Reno Omokri’s Ambassadorial Nomination
A Nigerian diaspora organisation has written to Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum urging her to refuse Reno Omokri’s ambassadorial credentials. In a letter signed by Comrade Frederick Odorige of the Global Coalition for Security and Democracy in Nigeria (GCSDN), the group labels Omokri a misfit lacking integrity. They allege his appointment bypassed proper legislative scrutiny and point to his history of flippant, divisive rhetoric. The letter recalls Omokri’s public claims that President Bola Tinubu is a “drug lord,” backed by court-certified documents, and notes how Omokri abruptly stopped campaigning for abducted schoolgirl Leah Sharibu. GCSDN warns that Omokri’s posting could threaten Mexico’s security and diplomatic relations. They argue his role was offered as compensation for past activities and urge the Mexican government to protect its interests by rejecting his nomination. Copies of the letter were sent to key Mexican officials and the embassy in Nigeria.
