Nigeria is set to launch a new alphanumeric postcode system on 1 October 2026. Under the plan, every home will receive a unique postcode. The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy said the system will provide a simpler and more precise way to identify addresses nationwide. It is designed to support Nigeria’s growing digital economy. Developed with the Nigerian Postal Service, the initiative is expected to improve postal delivery, property identification and other location-based services across the country.
