ICPC Uncovers Nationwide Network Behind Alleged Fake Government Office
The ICPC has declared the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office illegal, alleging that it operated without presidential approval or legal backing. Investigators said the organisation had a national coordinator, three zonal directors, 20 state coordinators and representatives in the United States and China. Its promoter, George Buchi Nwabueze, was reportedly listed online as its executive director and national coordinator. President Bola Tinubu has ordered Nwabueze’s arrest and suspended three permanent secretaries following the investigation. The ICPC said the office allegedly operated from premises within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and may have exploited internal control failures or received assistance from public officials. The probe is linked to investigations into another alleged fake body, the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council. Authorities say anyone found responsible will face the law.
