Tinubu and Family Face No US Travel Restrictions for UNGA, Says Jimoh Ibrahim

Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, says President Bola Tinubu and his family can travel freely to the United States for the UN General Assembly. He said the Nigerian Mission in New York had received no notice from the US government restricting the President’s movement. He cited the 1947 UN-US Headquarters Agreement, which protects member-state representatives and their families from impediments while travelling to and from UN headquarters on official business. Ibrahim said an allegation is not proof of a crime and that criminal accusations must be tested through due process. He added that social-media efforts to portray Tinubu as liable for arrest in the US would not succeed.
