EFCC Widens Probe Into Insurance Recapitalisation, Invites Linkage Assurance MD
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has expanded its investigation into Nigeria’s insurance recapitalisation exercise, issuing an invitation to Linkage Assurance Plc’s Managing Director, Daniel Braie. An EFCC letter dated 3 September 2026 asks Braie to appear before its Capital Market and Insurance Fraud Section in Abuja on 24 September for clarification on the exercise. The development has renewed calls by some industry stakeholders and civil society groups for the Commissioner for Insurance, Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, to step aside while the investigation continues. The groups allege concerns over capital-injection fees, escrow requirements and consultant payments, allegations that remain under investigation.
