British Minister Rejects Israeli Claim That Iran Could Strike the UK
Housing Secretary Steve Reed told the BBC there is no assessment to substantiate Israeli claims that Iran is targeting London. Israel’s military had asserted that Tehran possessed weapons with a range of up to 4,000 km. Reports suggested Iran may have aimed at the joint US-UK base on the Chagos Islands, about 3,800 km from Iran. Reed declined to share operational details on how close any missiles came to British territory. He stressed that the UK is fully capable of defending its homeland and protecting its assets and nationals overseas. His remarks come amid a regional escalation following a joint US-Israel offensive on Iran and subsequent Iranian drone and missile strikes across the Middle East.
