Why I Reject ‘One Nigeria’ and My Questions for Fellow Citizens
In my view, Nigeria remains a colonial experiment imposed without consent. Since Lugard’s forced amalgamation in 1914, successive governments have looted public resources while insecurity and hardship worsen. The 1960 independence did not correct these injustices. The 1999 constitution was drafted without genuine input, perpetuating the same oppressive structure. Today, ethnic tensions, corruption and economic decline define our nation. My questions to ordinary Nigerians are: - Why defend the chains of your oppression? - What benefit do you gain from a constitution rooted in colonial design? - What reasons do we have to be proud as Nigerians? If anyone can convincingly defend this union, I will publicly reconsider my call for a referendum to end Nigeria.
