Cult Killings in Osun: When Will This Cycle End?
Reports of cult violence in Osun State are disturbing and saddening. Even though I am not from the state, the growing number of cult-related killings across Nigeria should worry everyone. Young men should not be celebrating the death of rivals from groups such as Aiye, Eiye or Maphite. Nigeria already faces serious challenges, including banditry and extremist violence. We cannot keep losing young people to conflicts that can be resolved. This cycle of retaliation has lasted for decades and has achieved nothing. Development, wisdom and peace should come before violence, regardless of anyone's group or affiliation. After all the cult wars in Nigeria since the 1990s, what have they truly achieved?
