Roger Waters Criticises Ed Sheeran Over Macklemore’s Removal From US Tour Dates
Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters has criticised Ed Sheeran after rapper Macklemore was removed from the remaining US dates of Sheeran’s Loop Tour. Macklemore had voiced support for Palestinians during a performance in New Jersey, where he performed his protest song and displayed images from Gaza. He later said he was dropped from the tour after venues objected to his participation. Sheeran said the decision was made by promoters and venue operators, not by him. He said he was distressed by the suffering in Israel and Palestine but would not cancel the remaining shows because of commitments to fans, crew members and other performers. Macklemore said he understood Sheeran’s position but would continue to speak publicly about Palestine. Several musicians and public figures have since expressed support for the rapper.
