FG Suspends Niger NSCDC Commandant Over Reported Deaths of Suspected Illegal Miners
The Minister of Interior has suspended the Niger State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Suberu Siyaka Aniviye, following reports that suspected illegal miners died after enforcement operations in the state. The arrests reportedly took place during operations conducted on September 15 and 16 in the Wushishi and Lukoto areas of Niger State. The minister said a full investigation would be carried out and urged residents to remain calm while authorities establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
