Bayelsa Police Arrest Over 20 Suspected Cultists After Yenagoa Clashes
The Bayelsa State Police Command says it has arrested more than 20 suspected cultists during operations across the state. The crackdown covered Swali, Akenfa, Down Yenagoa, Agudama and other communities identified as vulnerable to cult activity. Police say some of those arrested are believed to be notorious suspects, while efforts are continuing to trace others. The operation follows renewed clashes between rival cult groups in Yenagoa, where at least five people were feared dead. The command says it has directed tactical and divisional teams to intensify patrols, intelligence gathering and prevention of further clashes, initiations and recruitment.
