Wike Says Obi Is a ‘Social Media President’, Declares Support for Tinubu in 2027
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has criticised Peter Obi’s presidential ambition, describing him as a “social media president” and arguing that online popularity is not enough to govern Nigeria. Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Bonny, Rivers State, Wike also mocked Obi’s habit of carrying his own bags, which he described as a sign of stinginess. Wike said voters should assess politicians by their records in office. He questioned Obi’s tenure as Anambra governor and criticised politicians who leave their parties during internal crises instead of confronting them. The minister also repeated allegations about spending on projects under the previous Rivers State administration, including the proposed Justice Karibi-Whyte Specialist Hospital and the state monorail. He declared support for President Bola Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 presidential election, while announcing that the Rainbow Coalition would unveil its Rivers State candidates on October 27.
