Duane Davis Sentenced to 40 Years to Life Over Tupac Shakur’s 1996 Killing
Duane “Keffe D” Davis has been sentenced to 40 years to life in prison for the 1996 killing of rapper Tupac Shakur. Prosecutors said Davis helped orchestrate the shooting after a fight involving Shakur’s entourage and Davis’ nephew, Orlando Anderson, in Las Vegas. Shakur was shot later that night and died six days afterwards at age 25. The case remained unresolved for nearly three decades. Prosecutors relied heavily on Davis’ own interviews, documentary appearances and his 2019 memoir, in which he discussed his knowledge of the killing. Davis is the first person to be held legally accountable in Shakur’s death, bringing a long-running case to a close.
