Vigilantes Kill Four Armed Suspects After Plateau Mining Site Attack

Vigilantes Kill Four Armed Suspects After Plateau Mining Site Attack

Local vigilantes in Plateau State confronted a group of armed men who attacked a mining site in Nyango, Gyel District, Jos South LGA, on June 29. Three miners were killed and two injured when the assailants opened fire on solid mineral workers. The Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM) dismissed claims by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) that the deceased were cattle breeders. BYM described this as a distortion of the facts and has called for a transparent investigation into the identities and motive of those killed. A separate attack in Zargwok community, Gashish District, on June 30 left two community patrol members dead. BYM urged security agencies to step up protection for vulnerable communities, apprehend the perpetrators and restore public confidence in lives and property.
