Enugu Youth Group Gives Forest Guard Commander 72 Hours to Address Armed-Men Allegations
Ugwuaji Youths for Peace has given the Enugu State Commander of the National Forest Guard, Dr Akinbayo Olasoji, 72 hours to respond to allegations that unidentified men carrying AK-47 rifles were operating alongside Forest Guard personnel in the Ugwuaji–Obeagu forest area. The group also asked Olasoji to explain the alleged presence of Ben Alukwu during meetings in the forest. It demanded details of the armed men’s identities, official status, deployment records and weapons authorisation, as well as Alukwu’s role and any security appointment he may hold. The youths said they support lawful operations against kidnapping but want transparent answers on the allegations. They said they would petition the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Minister of Defence and other authorities if no satisfactory response is provided.
