Man Reportedly Beaten to Death Over Missing Phone in Agege

A man identified as Azeez has reportedly died after an alleged assault over a missing mobile phone in the Oko-Oba area of Agege, Lagos State. The incident reportedly began after a birthday party on August 2, when a guest’s phone went missing. An anti-cultism advocacy platform alleged that the phone was traced to Azeez, who said another man, identified as Abela, had given it to him for safekeeping. The platform claimed Abela later denied giving Azeez the phone, despite witnesses allegedly seeing the exchange. Azeez was reportedly assaulted during the dispute and later taken to another location, where suspected cult members allegedly attacked him again. He reportedly died from the injuries sustained.
