Nine Farmers Killed, Several Missing After Bandit Attack in Zamfara

At least nine farmers were killed and several others went missing when bandits attacked farmlands in Gidan Danjumma community, Birnin Magaji LGA of Zamfara State. A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity said the gunmen had warned villagers not to cultivate their fields for the upcoming 2026 wet season. When farmers ignored the threat, the assailants stormed the farms on motorcycles and opened fire. Some victims were killed instantly, while others fled into nearby forests under gunfire. Many escapees sustained gunshot injuries and the death toll could rise, as the fate of those still unaccounted for remains unknown. The attackers continue to issue warnings against further farming activity.
