JAMB Clarifies What ‘Not Admitted’ and ‘Admission in Progress’ Mean on CAPS
JAMB has clarified that a CAPS status of “Not Admitted” means a candidate has not yet received an admission offer. It does not mean the candidate has lost the chance of admission. The Board said “Admission in Progress” means an institution has started processing an offer, but the admission is still awaiting approval. It is not a guaranteed admission and may be declined if the candidate does not meet the required conditions. Candidates are officially admitted only when JAMB approves the offer and their CAPS status changes to “Admitted.” They can then accept or reject the offer and print their admission letter. JAMB advised UTME candidates to check CAPS regularly and rely on its official updates throughout the 2026 admission exercise.
