Abdulsalami Abubakar Calls on Nigerians to Unite Against Insecurity

In a statement marking his 84th birthday, former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd.) urged every Nigerian to join hands with security agencies in the fight against terrorism and other criminal activities. He warned that the deaths of Major General Abubakar Rabe (retd.) and many others highlight the urgent need for collective action. Drawing on his military service in the Civil War and peacekeeping missions, he lamented the politicisation of security issues. He called on citizens to reject divisive narratives and misinformation that embolden violent groups. He appealed to authorities to sustain decisive measures and encouraged security personnel to stay resolute. He reaffirmed his dream of a peaceful, prosperous Nigeria and asked all Nigerians to set aside ethnic, religious, and political differences in pursuit of national unity.
