After 10 Years in Business, I’m Rethinking the Strategy for Growth
After more than 10 years in business, I have started asking myself a hard question: can my current model take me where I want to go? The business is not necessarily the problem, but the way I run it may have reached its limit. I do not want Glodnuts Ventures to remain a business that sells laptops one at a time. I want to build a stronger technology, office-equipment and distribution company that serves corporate clients, develops supplier networks, creates multiple income channels and can eventually operate beyond Nigeria. That may mean moving from retail into distribution, pursuing procurement opportunities, improving systems and building a team. I also need to learn from people who have successfully scaled similar businesses, while remembering that social-media displays of wealth do not always show the full story. The question is no longer whether this business can make me wealthy. It is what the business must become to create the wealth, scale and impact I want. I do not want to spend another decade being busy without making meaningful progress.
