Driver Arrested Over Kidnap of UTME Candidates, 13 Still Held

A driver has been arrested for allegedly abducting passengers, including UTME candidates, on the Makurdi–Otukpo road in Benue State. The vehicle operator confirmed the arrest and said investigations are ongoing. The bus was not authorised for a night trip and was attacked at Ikobi. Two passengers managed to escape, but 13 remain in captivity. The company said the driver ignored procedures by travelling at night without approval. Security forces, led by the state police commissioner, have launched rescue operations to free the victims.
