Nigerian-American Suspect in Atlanta Triple Homicide Dies in Jail Cell
DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office reported that 26-year-old Olaolukitan Adon Abel was found unresponsive in his cell just after 6:48 p.m. ET on Tuesday and was pronounced dead at 7:17 p.m. An internal probe is underway, and authorities say there’s no indication of foul play. Abel became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2022. He faced charges for a shooting spree on April 13 that left three people dead across three Atlanta suburbs. Investigators allege he paid a homeless man to buy a gun and then shot 31-year-old Prianna Weathers outside a restaurant near Decatur. He later shot Tony Matthews at a Brookhaven grocery plaza and attacked Department of Homeland Security employee Lauren Bullis while she walked her dog in Panthersville. All three victims died from their injuries.
