ADC Questions Gbajabiamila Leading Governors to Canada Investment Conference

The African Democratic Congress has criticised President Bola Tinubu's decision to have Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila lead a Federal Government delegation to the Nigeria Diaspora Investment Economic Conference in Toronto, Canada. The delegation includes Governors Babagana Zulum of Borno, Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra, Uba Sani of Kaduna, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, alongside several ministers. The conference is scheduled for August 12 to 15 and is expected to connect Nigerian officials with diaspora investors and business leaders. ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi argued that it was inappropriate for an unelected presidential aide to head a mission involving elected governors. Supporters of the administration counter that the Chief of Staff is a senior representative of the President and can coordinate official engagements on behalf of the Presidency. The Presidency has not stated publicly why Gbajabiamila was chosen to lead the delegation.
