PDP Alleges Political Violence and Opposition Intimidation in Ebonyi Ahead of 2027
The Forum of PDP State Chairmen has alleged rising political violence, abductions, killings and intimidation of opposition members in Ebonyi State ahead of the 2027 general elections. The forum asked President Bola Tinubu and security agencies to investigate the allegations. It claimed that PDP leaders, candidates and supporters had faced threats, unlawful detention, property destruction and restrictions on political activities. It also called for clarification over an alleged accommodation arrangement involving the Ebonyi Commissioner of Police and a hotel reportedly owned by Governor Francis Nwifuru. The Ebonyi State Police Command rejected claims of political bias, saying it remains neutral and responds professionally to security threats.
