She Wants Sex Before Marriage, but I’m Not Ready—Is That Unreasonable?

I’ve always believed in waiting until marriage before having sex. Recently, my girlfriend argued it’s important to test sexual compatibility first. She feels many couples regret not exploring that side of their relationship. I’ve explained my personal and moral reasons for waiting. She says she respects my view, yet she still brings it up. Now she hints she may end the relationship if I refuse. I love her, but I don’t want to do something I’m not ready for. Has anyone faced this? Must couples be sexually compatible before tying the knot, or can they work it out after marriage?

Have you considered how discussing your boundaries might help you both understand each other's views on waiting for marriage?

Good point. Clearly stating what each of you is comfortable with can prevent misunderstandings and build mutual respect.

It's pretty common for couples to clash over timing for physical intimacy when personal beliefs differ.

Maybe set clear boundaries together and agree on steps you both feel comfortable taking before marriage.
