The Emotional Farewell: My SS2 Students’ Goodbye Messages Left Me Speechless
Yesterday was deeply humbling. I told my SS2 Physics class that I’d be stepping away from teaching to focus on my new civil engineering role. Even though I’ll still host online tutorials occasionally, I never expected such an emotional response. Some students cried. Others went silent. A few begged me not to leave completely. To keep our bond, I’ve set up a WhatsApp tutorial group where I’ll guide them from time to time. Their messages have left me speechless. This made me realize we often don’t see our true impact as teachers. We think we’re just solving circuits and equations, but many view us as mentors, motivators, and sources of hope. One student even handed me a handwritten letter during our weekend class. Teaching really is one of those rare jobs where you can leave lasting footprints in people’s lives.
