Police Rescue Nine Kidnap Victims as Five Die in Crimes Reported Across States
The Nigeria Police Force says it rescued nine kidnap victims during coordinated operations across several states between September 17 and 18. Eight passengers abducted during an attack on a commercial bus in Ohimini LGA, Benue State, were rescued in Omla Forest. One of the victims later died from gunshot wounds sustained during the attack. Another victim was found and reunited with family after escaping abductors in Kwara State. Police also reported fatal attacks and arrests in Sokoto, Bauchi, Enugu, Ekiti, Kaduna, Cross River and Nasarawa states. The operations led to the recovery of firearms, ammunition and a vehicle reportedly stolen during an armed robbery. Investigations and efforts to arrest fleeing suspects are continuing.
