2027: Kwankwaso Asks Yari to Reconsider Role in Tinubu Campaign Council
NDC vice-presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso has urged former Zamfara governor Abdul’aziz Yari to reconsider his appointment as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election. Kwankwaso said Yari should reflect on the insecurity, poverty, unemployment, displacement and loss of livelihoods affecting Nigerians, particularly in the North-West. He questioned why Yari would lead a campaign seeking to retain the current administration. He also raised concerns about senior public officials serving in the council’s fundraising and finance structures, including the Nigeria Revenue Service chairman and the Budget Office director-general. The APC council is chaired by President Bola Tinubu, with Vice-President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda as vice-chairmen. Hope Uzodimma was named secretary, while Yari was appointed director-general.
