Ghana Reduces Fuel Supplies to Burkina Faso and Mali as Local Demand Grows

Ghana’s state-owned fuel distributor, BOST Energies, has reduced diesel and petrol exports to Burkina Faso and Mali since August to meet rising demand at home. Burkina Faso received 40,000 metric tonnes out of the 80,000 tonnes it requested for July and August. Mali received 10,000 tonnes despite seeking an additional 40,000 tonnes for August and September. The cuts could worsen supply concerns in the landlocked Sahel countries, which depend on fuel routed through coastal West African states. BOST says it is also planning new LPG import and storage terminals in Tema and Kumasi as it expands its domestic distribution network.
