ADC Alleges Politicisation of INEC and Police Ahead of 2027 Elections
The African Democratic Congress has accused the Federal Government of allowing key institutions, including the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Nigeria Police Force, to become entangled in partisan politics ahead of the 2027 general elections. The party raised concerns over reports that a faction of the National Union of Road Transport Workers allegedly linked to MC Oluomo could be involved in election logistics. It also questioned the reported appearance of Lagos State Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai at the launch of the pro-Tinubu City Boy Movement. The ADC said these developments could weaken public confidence in the electoral process and called on INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan to clarify any relationship with the NURTW faction. It also asked the Inspector-General of Police to explain whether the police commissioner attended the political event with official approval, insisting that senior police officers must remain politically neutral.
