Zamfara Police Foil Bandits’ Raid, Recover Over 300 Cattle, AK-47
The Zamfara State Police Command says its operatives repelled a bandits’ attack in Gumi LGA and recovered 329 rustled cattle, 175 sheep, an AK-47 rifle, and 15 rounds of ammunition. The joint operation by the Violence Crime Response Unit and military personnel took place on June 20 at Gambanda Forest following credible intelligence on bandit movements. Officers engaged the attackers in a fierce gun duel at around 2:30 a.m. Superior tactics and coordinated firepower forced the criminals to abandon the raid and flee into the forest, leaving behind livestock and weapons. CP Ahmad Muhammad Bello commended the operatives for their courage and professionalism. He pledged sustained operations against banditry and urged the public to share timely information to help secure the state.
