Benue Leader Alleges Ortom’s Role in Disruption of Peter Obi’s Yelwata Visit
Lubem Gbenda, president of the Lobi Consultative Forum, has alleged that former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom played a role in the disruption of Peter Obi’s planned visit to Yelwata in Guma Local Government Area. Speaking during a television interview, Gbenda claimed that meetings were held at Ortom’s residence and that vehicles linked to the former governor were used during preparations for the visit. He alleged that the actions were intended to portray the Benue State Government as responsible for stopping Obi from reaching the community. Gbenda’s claims were challenged during the interview over the evidence presented. He also urged politicians not to exploit insecurity and the suffering of communities affected by violence for electoral advantage ahead of 2027.
