Atiku Camp Demands Answers From Shettima Over 2012 Arrest of Kabiru Sokoto at Borno Lodge
Atiku Abubakar’s media adviser, Paul Ibe, has asked Vice-President Kashim Shettima to explain how convicted Boko Haram member Kabiru Sokoto was arrested at the Borno State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja in January 2012. Sokoto was later convicted for his role in the 2011 Christmas Day bombing at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Madalla, Niger State. Ibe called for the release of records from the investigation and details of any action taken over the alleged security breach. The demand followed Shettima’s criticism of Atiku during the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja. Ibe said the questions concern public accountability and also cited security challenges in Borno during Shettima’s time as governor.
