Yari Says APC Will Retain Power Beyond 2031 as Campaign Council Faces Criticism
Senator Abdul’Aziz Yari says President Bola Tinubu will win re-election in 2027 and that the All Progressives Congress will remain in power beyond 2031. Yari, the newly appointed Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, made the remarks after returning to Abuja. He said the party would be judged by its ability to fulfil the promises made to Nigerians during the 2023 campaign. The newly unveiled campaign council has drawn criticism over the inclusion of serving public officials and some former officials facing unresolved misconduct allegations. Critics have also questioned the appointment of Nigeria Revenue Service Chairman Zacch Adedeji as deputy director of fundraising, with Dino Melaye threatening legal action over a possible conflict of interest. Despite the backlash, Yari said the APC remains confident in Tinubu’s administration and pledged that the party would keep its campaign commitments.
