Women in Rotary to Empower 200 Lagos Students Against Child Marriage
Women in Rotary, Rotary District 9111, will host more than 200 students in Lagos to mark the 2026 International Day of the Girl Child. The programme focuses on ending child marriage and strengthening girls’ rights to education, safety and personal choice. The forum will bring together students, parents, teachers, Rotarians and community leaders for mentorship, advocacy and discussions on the effects of child marriage. Topics will include school dropouts, health risks, psychological trauma and economic dependence. Organisers say the programme will encourage parents, educators and leaders to protect girls’ childhoods and support their education. A medical expert and girl-child advocate is expected to deliver the keynote address.
