Nigeria’s $800m Ima Gas Project Reaches Final Investment Decision After Five Decades
Nigeria’s $800 million Ima Gas Project has reached Final Investment Decision, clearing the way for development of an offshore gas resource discovered in 1973. The project is being developed by AMNI International in partnership with TotalEnergies. At peak production, the project is expected to deliver about 300 million standard cubic feet of gas daily. The gas field is located in OMLs 112 and 117 and is expected to support Nigeria LNG, industrial feedstock, exports and power generation. AMNI International holds a majority interest in the asset, while Nigerian financial institutions arranged 77 per cent of the financing. About 60 per cent of the project workforce is expected to come from host communities in Bonny, Finima and Andoni, Rivers State. The decision is the fourth major gas project to reach FID since the current administration took office, following the Iseni, Ubeta and HI projects.
