Wike: Fubara Lost Second-Term Chance in Rivers Political Crisis
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike says Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has emerged as the biggest loser in the state’s prolonged political crisis. Speaking during a media chat in Port Harcourt, Wike argued that Fubara lost control of the Rivers State House of Assembly and missed the chance to secure a second term. He also said the governor did not supervise the local government election whose outcome was later nullified by the Supreme Court. Wike said impeachment is a constitutional provision but should be approached cautiously as a political tool. He maintained that the crisis required compromise, claiming that advice from Fubara’s supporters deepened the dispute and harmed the state.
