Five Dead, Five Injured After Amazon Cargo Plane Overruns Runway at Miami Airport
At least five people were killed and five others injured after an Amazon Air cargo aircraft reportedly overran a runway while landing at Miami International Airport on Sunday. The Boeing 767-300, operated by charter carrier 21 Air, had arrived from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Officials said it struck vehicles on the ground and caught fire near the northwest end of the airport. More than 200 firefighters responded to the scene. Three of the injured were said to be in critical condition, while rescue workers extracted some victims from vehicles damaged in the crash. Flights were temporarily grounded, causing cancellations and delays during the busy Labour Day travel period. Investigators are expected to examine whether weather, runway conditions or other factors contributed to the incident.
