Lagos Seeks Community Support to Reduce Environmental Sanitation Violations
The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC/KAI) has urged residents, market leaders, transport operators and community groups to take greater responsibility for keeping their environments clean. At a stakeholder meeting in Oshodi, LAGESC Chairman Olaniyi Olatunbosun said sustainable sanitation requires cooperation between residents, community leaders and enforcement agencies. He asked residents to report environmental offences and avoid creating them. He added that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved additional recruitment slots for LAGESC. The planned recruitment is expected to strengthen the agency’s presence in communities across Lagos.
