Zaki LGA Chairman Masud Aliyu Umar Dies in Bauchi Road Crash, Three Months After Election

The chairman of Zaki Local Government Area in Bauchi State, Masud Aliyu Umar, has died in a road accident at Konkiyal village in Darazo LGA. Umar was reportedly returning to Zaki after attending an Allied Peoples Movement stakeholders’ meeting in Bauchi on Sunday, November 1. He was elected chairman on August 17, 2026, alongside chairpersons for the state’s other local government areas. Before becoming chairman, he served as director-general of the Bauchi State Emergency Management Agency. His funeral prayer is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday, November 2, at the Palace of the District Head in Mur Mur, Zaki LGA.
