Ogun Assembly Orders Halt to Illegal Quarry Ticketing and Extortion
The Ogun State House of Assembly has directed truck drivers and quarry operators to use only approved harmonised tickets issued by the Ministry of Finance, the state revenue service and recognised unions. The directive covers trucks transporting sand, gravel, granite and stones from quarries across the state. It follows complaints of extortion, double taxation, intimidation, forced ticketing and the unlawful seizure of trucks by toll collectors. The Assembly said all unauthorised fees must stop immediately while its joint committees investigate the allegations. Task force personnel will be deployed to quarries to enforce the order, while senior officials from relevant ministries have been invited for further questioning.
