Borno 2027 Governorship Race: Can APC Keep Its Hold After Zulum?
Borno State is beginning to look ahead to the 2027 governorship election as Governor Babagana Zulum approaches the end of his second term. The race is expected to test the APC’s long-standing strength in the state against possible challenges from the ADC and PDP. Names linked to the contest include Mustapha Gubio of the APC, Babagana Buhari of the ADC and Abba-Gana Ibrahim Baba of the PDP. Zulum won convincingly in both 2019 and 2023, but the next election will be shaped by security, reconstruction, jobs, agriculture and the return of displaced residents.
