Atiku Aide to Tinubu: Earn a Second Term at the Ballot Box
Paul Ibe, media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has accused the APC of using state institutions to intimidate and weaken opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general elections. Commenting on the reported 200-day detention of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Ibe said no politician should be above the law. He argued, however, that suspects must be treated fairly and guaranteed due process. He questioned the alleged difference in treatment between opposition figures and APC members, citing former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello’s continued political activity despite an EFCC case. Ibe said President Bola Tinubu and the APC should seek re-election based on their record and allow Nigerians to choose freely at the ballot box. He warned that using state power against political opponents could weaken Nigeria’s democracy.
