Tupac Murder Trial: Pathologist Details Fatal Gunshot Wounds in Court
A forensic pathologist has described the gunshot injuries that killed rap icon Tupac Shakur during the murder trial of Duane “Keffe D” Davis in Las Vegas. Dr Lisa Gavin told jurors that a bullet entered Shakur’s chest, damaged a lung and caused severe internal bleeding. Doctors removed the injured lung in an effort to save him, but he died six days after the September 1996 drive-by shooting. Other bullets also damaged his intestines and other organs. Some of Shakur’s relatives left or looked away when autopsy photographs were shown in court. Prosecutors allege Davis planned the shooting in retaliation for an earlier attack on his nephew, Orlando Anderson. Davis, who denies the charge, could face life imprisonment if convicted.
