Troops Repel Attacks on Borno Bases, Recover Weapons and Four Bodies
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have repelled separate attacks on Forward Operating Bases in Gajiram, Nganzai Local Government Area, and Mairari in Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State. Military authorities said fighters approaching Gajiram on September 17 were detected early with support from Multinational Joint Task Force surveillance assets. The troops, backed by close air support, forced the attackers to withdraw. An attack on the Mairari base was also repelled. Troops recovered four bodies, AK-47 rifles, ammunition, rocket-propelled grenade bombs and a camcorder. Some personnel were injured and taken to hospital. Two JAS members, including a commander, separately surrendered to troops near Bama with rifles, magazines, ammunition and a motorcycle.
