NEMA Urges Niger Households and Schools to Prepare for Disasters
The National Emergency Management Agency has urged households and schools in Niger State to take simple safety steps that can reduce the impact of disasters. At an event marking the 2026 International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, officials advised residents to keep their surroundings clean, clear drainage channels, prepare for emergencies and act quickly on early-warning alerts. NEMA said disaster prevention requires action from government agencies, families and communities. Students were also encouraged to share safety lessons with relatives and neighbours to help build safer homes and schools.
